Audition with Dance Call
Area Stage Company in Coral Gables seeks actors, singers, and dancers, ages 13+, for its upcoming production of West Side Story with live orchestra and in conjunction with Area Stage’s conservatory.
West Side Story transports Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to 1950s New York City where street gangs the Jets and the Sharks fight over territory. But when a former Jet and the Sharks leader’s sister fall in love, they are caught between their warring factions. Tony and Maria’s struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence, and prejudice is as heart-wrenching and relevant today as it was in Shakespeare’s time.
Featuring a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story is the Tony Award-winning musical whose 1961 musical film adaptation won 10 Oscars. Area Stage’s production will be directed by multi-Carbonell Award winner John Rodaz, founder and Artistic Director of Area Stage Company.

Performances: December 7th to 16th; Fridays 7:30 PM, Saturdays 7:30 PM, Sundays 5:00 PM.
